Track Your Time tools (15, 5 write)
write = sends, deletes, buys or postsRead from the package source without running it. The installed server may list more.
create_clientwrite actionCreate a client. A colour is assigned when none is given.
create_projectwrite actionCreate a project, optionally under a client (clientId from list_clients), with an hourly rate, a billable default, estimated hours or a budget.
create_tagwrite actionCreate a tag. Entries can carry several tags, and reports can group by them.
create_taskwrite actionCreate a workspace-wide task, a name for a kind of work that any project's entries can use. Task names are unique per workspace.
get_running_timerReturn the timer currently running in this token's workspace, with how long it has run, or say that none is running.
get_token_infoConfirm the MCP server can reach Track Your Time, and show the token's workspace, scopes and whether it may see other members' time and money. Call this first when another tool fails with an authentication error.
list_clientsList the workspace's clients. Archived clients are left out unless includeArchived is true.
list_entriesList time entries that overlap a date range, newest first, with project, client and task names. Filter by project, client, task, tag, billable flag, or a text `search` over descriptions. Returns up to `limit` entries (default 100, max 500); pass `nextCursor` back as `cursor` for the next page.
list_projectsList projects with their client, hourly rate, total tracked time and budget progress. Narrow to one client with clientId. Archived projects are left out unless includeArchived is true.
list_tagsList tags with how many entries carry each one and their total time.
list_tasksList tasks. A task is a workspace-wide kind of work (for example "Design review"), not part of a project: an entry carries a project and a task independently.
log_time_entrywrite actionCreate a finished time entry with an explicit start and end, for work that was not timed. `start` and `end` are ISO-8601 timestamps with an offset or Z, and end must be after start.
start_timerStart a timer now (or at `start`). A timer already running in this workspace is stopped first. Use list_projects, list_tasks and list_tags to find ids; pass none of them to track unfiled time. Answers 409 when a timer runs in another workspace this token cannot stop.
stop_timerStop the timer running in this workspace, now or at `end`. Pass `id` to stop a specific entry; stopping an entry that is already stopped returns it unchanged.
summary_reportTotal, billable time and amount for a date range, broken down by project, client, task or tag (or by day, week or month), plus a daily series. Grouped by tag, each entry counts fully toward every tag it carries, so tag rows can add up to more than the total. Refused when the token's owner may not see other members' money.

Track Your Time
Free, open-source time tracking for freelancers and small teams who bill by the hour.
Start a timer in the web app, the desktop app, the Chrome extension, Raycast on your Mac, or the iPhone and Android apps. Each one keeps counting without a connection and sends your changes when the connection comes back. Stop the timer on your phone, and your laptop shows it stopped.
At the end of the month, the hours become a report, a PDF invoice, or a ZUGFeRD or XRechnung e-invoice. Invite colleagues, and each person sees only their own time until you let them see more. Import a CSV from another tracker, take everything out as JSON or CSV, or connect other tools through the REST API.
There's no paid plan, now or later. Use the hosted version at , or run the same app on your own server from one compose file. The desktop app, the extensions and the phone apps work with either, because each one asks for a server address.
The Chrome extension is in the Chrome Web Store, and Firefox 0.3.0 is public on Firefox Add-ons. Desktop version 0.2.2 downloads from GitHub Releases for macOS, Windows and Linux. Self-host images are published through v0.3.0. The phone apps are in testing channels. Release readiness records the remaining distribution checks.
The product was called tracktime until September 2026. The repository, images, bundle ids and every other identifier were renamed to trackyourtime before the first release.
The hosted web app is at , with the API on its own host at . The API reference and OpenAPI document describe its public routes. docs/deploy.md explains the topology and why the domain moved.
What it is
A pnpm monorepo: one Express + tRPC API, one Next.js web client exported as static files, and shared packages (shared, core) that the extension, Raycast, the phone apps and the MCP server reuse. Two Docker images and a MongoDB are the whole production footprint; Redis is optional. There is no feature gate between the hosted version and a self-hosted one, and no telemetry you have not configured yourself.
Everything is scoped to a workspace. A person can belong to several, and a workspace can have many members — see Teams.
