Algeria tools (6)

write = sends, deletes, buys or posts

Read from the package source without running it. The installed server may list more.

  • get_commune

    A commune by its four-digit ONS code, with its wilaya under the 2026 (69), 2019 (58) and 1984 (48) maps, its 1991 daira and its other names.

  • get_wilaya

    One of Algeria's 69 wilayas by code ('05', also the vehicle plate number) or by name in French or Arabic, with the law that created it and the list of its communes.

  • locate_point

    The commune and wilaya that contain a GPS point. Boundaries are accurate to about 100 m and come from OpenStreetMap (CC BY-SA 2.0). Returns nothing for points outside Algeria.

  • search_communes

    Find Algerian communes by name, in French or Arabic. Handles accents, articles, transliteration variants (Djelfa/Jelfa, Beni/Bni), old official names and small typos. Returns the commune, its current wilaya (69-wilaya map, 2026) and a score where 0 is an exact match.

  • validate

    Checks that a value is well formed and returns its parts, or the reason it is not. Kinds: phone (mobile, landline, VoIP), rib (any bank, 20 digits), rip (Algerie Poste RIP), ccp (account number, with 'key' to check), plate (vehicle plate), postal (postal code), nin, nif, nis, rc (registre du commerce number), wilaya, commune (with 'wilaya' to pick among shared names). Well formed does not mean the

  • wilaya_changes

    Communes moved to another wilaya by a reform: 2026 (loi 26-06, 58 to 69 wilayas) or 2019 (loi 19-12, 48 to 58 wilayas). Optionally only those moved from or to one wilaya.

algeria-mcp

An MCP server that lets AI assistants answer questions about Algeria's 69 wilayas and 1541 communes from the Journal officiel, and check Algerian formats such as phone numbers and RIP keys.

Ask your assistant things like:

  • Which wilaya is Bou Saada in since 2026?
  • Which communes moved to the wilaya of El Kantara?
  • Which commune is the point 36.365, 6.6147 in?
  • Is the RIP 007 99999 0000000200 91 well formed?

Setup

Also listed in the official MCP Registry as io.github.syscli/algeria-mcp.

Claude Code:

claude mcp add algeria -- npx -y @syscli/algeria-mcp

Claude Desktop, Cursor and other clients, in their MCP configuration file:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "algeria": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@syscli/algeria-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

It runs locally over stdio, needs Node.js 18 or later, and makes no network calls: all the data ships with the package.
