Cutbolt

An original, local video editing engine for agents. Edit recorded footage, add captions, mix audio and export through structured commands, with saved revisions, retries and undo.

Qualifying H.264 and HEVC originals now feed frame previews, track renders and exports directly. Other formats still need explicit conversion within the supported matrix. The compact MCP catalog, 20 original graphics templates and six tested skill recipes with a local plugin reduce setup work. Binary releases and fresh-model workflow measurements remain in development.

Development status: v0.4.0, 12 October 2026. A Rust library and JSON command-line program create project snapshots, validate and edit timelines, inspect local media, plan renders and produce verified output. Local sessions persist revisions, reject conflicting edits, replay successful requests, preview edit diffs and support undo/restoration with history.

The full acceptance run on 12 October 2026 passed 766 checks at commit 338e114 for the bounded v1 checklist (100/100 core, 108/108 total). Later changes have their own recorded checks; this evidence does not establish a comparative lead. See the implementation tracker, full evidence and subsequent targeted checks and open work.

That full run covered typed property expressions, shutter sampling and motion blur, 3D planes, cameras and lighting, and local annotated foreground masks. These use the scene and saved-edit workflows; optional workers keep their dependencies external.

Productions from a manifest: tools/production.py builds a narrated, captioned and mixed pixel-art explainer from one JSON manifest (script lines, one visual beat per scene, palette, music, delivery). It drives PixelForge, a local Qwen narration worker and this engine with resumable stage receipts, so a new video in that style takes a handful of agent calls instead of about 170.

Agents use structured commands and local library calls. No hosted API, web server, account, or network connection is required at runtime. A native MCP stdio adapter exposes the same commands. On Windows and Linux, background render jobs persist status and progress, support cancellation, and detect interrupted workers. Full-size frame and exact-range previews are available. Optional bounded render retries and publication recovery pass full verification with bounded retries and checked publication recovery.

Editorial interchange imports and exports a bounded public OTIO subset with explicit local media bindings, exact track/audio timing, generic dissolves and path-specific loss acknowledgements. Import returns a proposed snapshot for the existing saved-session workflow. Reference-library, decoded-output and full integration verification pass.

Bounded native-project import accepts content-bound transfers from an installed source application’s public interface, with exact build/adapter acceptance, explicit omissions and blocking unsupported structures. Full verification passes against content-bound recorded captures from one exact build, including decoded output and unsupported-feature diagnostics.

Portable project history adds checked relative media/proxy paths, explicit editing-store migration, consistent backups during live editing and recovery with request receipts and undo intact. Full verification passes against an actual older engine and process/disk-full faults.
