What the publisher says

@pipeworx/tsa-passenger-volumes
Daily U.S. airport checkpoint screening counts — how many travelers TSA screened nationwide each day — plus busiest/quietest-day and average/total stats over a range.
Part of Pipeworx — an MCP gateway connecting AI agents to 1819+ live data sources. This is an independent, unofficial integration — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or published by the upstream provider.
Tools
figures for a single day, a date range, or a whole year. Defaults to the current year to date.
- tsacheckpointvolumes(date? | startdate?/enddate? | year?) — daily
across a range or a whole year, e.g. "busiest travel day of 2026." Defaults to the current year to date.
- tsacheckpointstats(startdate?/enddate? | year?) — max/min/average/total
Both return found: false (never an error, never an empty payload) when the requested period falls outside the published range.
Auth
Keyless.
Data sources
the daily total of travelers screened at TSA checkpoints nationwide, published since 2019. Name the publisher and dataset only — the route lives in src/index.ts.
- Transportation Security Administration (TSA), checkpoint travel numbers —
Notes
on the landing page (descending, through roughly yesterday) and each prior year on its own page (ascending, full year). The pack fetches live per request — at most one page per calendar year a query touches — and relies on the gateway's edge cache (cf.cacheTtl) rather than a baked copy: a closed-out past year is cached for a week, the current (still-updating) year for 30 minutes.
- The publisher has no API: the figures are an HTML table, the current year
resolves to found:false, not an error.
- Published range starts at 2019; a year outside [2019, current year]
row shape throws a loud error naming the upstream and status — never a silent empty result.
- An unexpected non-200 or an HTML page that no longer matches the expected
Quick Start
Add to your MCP client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.):
{
"mcpServers": {
"tsa-passenger-volumes": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/tsa-passenger-volumes/mcp"
}
}
}What this endpoint actually serves
tools/list at https://gateway.pipeworx.io/tsa-passenger-volumes/mcp returns the tools in the table above plus the shared Pipeworx meta-tools — askpipeworx, discovertools, search_within, remember/recall and the rest of the gateway-wide set. So the tool count you see is larger than this table: a single-pack endpoint currently lists roughly 30 shared tools alongside the pack's own. The connection's initialize response states its exact scope, and is the authoritative answer for a given day.
This is deliberate, not multiplexing by accident. The meta-tools are what let a scoped connection answer a question this pack does not cover — via ask_pipeworx, which routes across the whole catalog — without you adding a second MCP server. There is currently no way to mount a pack endpoint without them; if the extra schemas cost you more context than the routing is worth, connect to the full gateway once rather than to several pack endpoints.
Or connect to the full Pipeworx gateway to get every pack's tools listed directly, instead of just this one's:
{
"mcpServers": {
"pipeworx": {
"url": "https://gateway.pipeworx.io/mcp"
}
}
}Both URLs reach the same gateway and the same 1819+ data sources. The only difference is which pack's tools are listed directly; ask_pipeworx reaches all of them from either one.
No MCP client? Call it over HTTP
curl -X POST https://gateway.pipeworx.io/v1/tools/tsa_checkpoint_volumes \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
-d '{"date":"2026-06-18"}'Shortened. The full README is on GitHub.
Nothing above is checked by us. What we check is on the safety report.
