  • bing_ads_add_shared_negatives

    Add negative keywords to a shared negative keyword list. Use phrase match by default (wrap in quotes). Call bing_ads_list_shared_entities first to get list IDs.

  • bing_ads_get_campaign_performance

    Get campaign performance metrics (impressions, clicks, CTR, CPC, spend, conversions, revenue) for a date range.

  • bing_ads_get_client_context

    Get the current client context based on working directory. Call this first to confirm which Bing Ads account you're working with.

  • bing_ads_keyword_performance

    Get keyword performance report with metrics including impressions, clicks, cost, conversions, quality score. Optionally filter by campaign.

  • bing_ads_list_ad_groups

    List ad groups within a specific campaign, including ad group name and status.

  • bing_ads_list_campaigns

    List all campaigns for the current client's Bing/Microsoft Advertising account, including campaign name, status, budget, and type.

  • bing_ads_list_shared_entities

    List shared negative keyword lists (SharedEntity type) for the account. Returns list IDs and names needed for adding negatives.

  • bing_ads_pause_keywords

    Pause one or more keywords by setting their status to Paused. Requires ad group ID and keyword IDs.

  • bing_ads_search_term_report

    Get search term report showing actual search queries that triggered ads, with matched keywords and performance metrics.

  • bing_ads_update_campaign_budgetwrite action

    Update a campaign's daily budget amount. Use bing_ads_list_campaigns first to get the campaign ID and current budget.

Configuration

Security: Never share your .mcp.json file or commit it to git -- it may contain API credentials. Add .mcp.json to your .gitignore.

  1. Get OAuth credentials:
  • Go to Microsoft Azure Portal
  • Create an Azure AD app registration
  • Grant API permissions: Microsoft Advertising API
  • Scopes: https://ads.microsoft.com/msads.manage offline_access

Mutating tools (bingadspausekeywords, bingadsupdatecampaignbudget, bingadsaddsharednegatives) are hidden from the tool list and refused at call time unless BINGADSMCPWRITE=true is set in the server environment. This is a safety gate against casual write actions -- for example, pausing a keyword or editing a budget based on a throwaway chat message. To make write changes, set the env var explicitly in your .mcp.json or shell profile for the session that needs it, then unset it afterwards. Read tools (list/report/performance) are always available.
