Maias tools (5)
write = sends, deletes, buys or postsRead from the package source without running it. The installed server may list more.
editReference-safe edits: rename_screen cascades to flows, the navigation registry, and every target; add_screen registers the screen; remove_screen refuses to leave dangling references unless cascade is set. Writes the result back to the file (canonically formatted when format_output is true).
edit_elementsBatch edit of a screen's `elements` list (or a declared state's list): insert, update, remove, move.
queryGraph utilities over a MAIAS file: get one screen, list screens/flows, reachability analysis, orphan detection, "what links here" for a screen id, a text outline of the structure (tree — show this to the user after creating or restructuring a document), and a Mermaid flowchart (mermaid — renders in GitHub/Claude/Obsidian). tree and mermaid return plain text, not JSON; mermaid accepts an optional f
validateJSON Schema validation plus semantic lint (dangling targets, orphans, registry membership, …) for a MAIAS file. Returns { valid, diagnostics[] } with line/col positions.
wireframeDeterministic mobile wireframes from a MAIAS file: one self-contained HTML file (inline CSS, no JS, no external URLs) with one phone frame per screen, flows as rows, and click-through anchors between frames. Pass out to write the file (recommended — returns a summary); without out the raw HTML is returned as text (large). Refuses documents with validation errors (dangling targets become dead links

MAIAS — Mobile App Information Architecture Schema
An open standard for describing an app's information architecture — screens, navigation, flows, UI elements, states, and data dependencies — in one YAML (or JSON) document that is equally readable by humans and operable by agents.
maias: "0.3"
app:
name: Todo List
navigation:
primary:
screens: [home, settings] # ← the tab bar, derived, not drawn
flows:
- name: main
entry_screen: home
screens: [home, task_detail, task_new]
screens:
- id: home
title: My Tasks
type: list
path: /tasks
description: All tasks, newest first.
elements:
- label: Buy milk
type: list_item
target: task_detail # ← references are validated, renames cascadeWhy: a common language for human–agent collaboration on app development. An agent can build the described app from the document (implementation guide), create and edit documents as safe machine operations (CLI, MCP), and a human can read and review the same file.
What's in this repo
Quick start
Requires Node.js 20.19.4+ / 22.13+ / 24.3+ (CI runs 22). No clone or install needed — the packages are on npm:
# validate a document — schema + semantic lint (dangling targets, orphans,
# path collisions), with line numbers; add --json for machine-readable output
npx -y @maias/cli validate my-app.maias.yaml
# canonical formatting (idempotent; agent edits diff cleanly)
npx -y @maias/cli fmt my-app.maias.yaml --write
# rename a screen — cascades to flows, navigation, every target
npx -y @maias/cli rename my-app.maias.yaml old_screen new_screenPrefer a plain maias command? npm i -g @maias/cli.
In Claude Code, one install delivers the three skills plus the MCP server:
/plugin marketplace add MAIAS-project/maias-plugin
/plugin install maias@maiasIn any MCP client, add the server with claude mcp add maias -- npx -y @maias/mcp (or the JSON equivalent — see packages/mcp); it is also listed in the official MCP registry as io.github.MAIAS-project/maias.
The MAIAS Browser (render any document as a working app, web/iOS/Android) runs from a clone:
git clone https://github.com/MAIAS-project/maias.git && cd maias
npm install && npm run build
npx maias validate examples/todo_list/maias.yaml
npm run web --workspace maias-browserShortened. The full README is on GitHub.
Nothing above is checked by us. What we check is on the safety report.
Maias: common questions
- Is Maias MCP server safe?
- Yes, by our scan: it is graded A (86/100). Read the Maias safety report
- How do I install Maias?
- It runs on your machine. Copy the Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Claude Desktop config from the install section.
- Does Maias need an API key?
- Not as far as the registry entry and our scan can tell: no credentials are declared or required.
- Is Maias maintained?

- How does Maias compare with other MCP servers?
- safety score 86/100 (higher than 72% of 48,255 servers); tools 5 (the typical server has 7); tools that change things 0% (typical: 0%. Fewer write tools means less an agent can break). Full comparison.
