Coating Lab tools (13)

write = sends, deletes, buys or posts

Read from the package source without running it. The installed server may list more.

  • bake

Bakes the wear masks into a copy of the model (FBX for an engine, .blend for renders): about a minute.

  • check_coating

Each variant against its wear level's band, wear kept out of corners, every finish physical.

  • check_finish

A finish of your own against the rules before you add it.

  • check_library

The library against the physical rules: the finishes that break one, and why (empty: all hold).

  • describe_model

Any model's meshes and material slots (an FBX), to write a coating spec for a model Model Lab did not make.

  • engine_params

A variant's values by slot for an engine material that follows the shared wear formula.

  • list_finishes

Every finish: name, process, colour (sRGB hex), metallic, roughness, what it wears to, measured or estimated.

  • list_templates

    The ready variant sets (e.g. ar15: issued, new_black, fde_two_tone, odg_ceramic, tungsten_stainless, abused_parkerized).

  • list_wear_levels

The wear levels (new, issued, worn, abused): each mask's threshold and what the level looks like.

  • read_finish

One finish in full, with its notes and sources.

  • render_variants

Look-dev renders of the variants (labelled: not a game's view) and a sheet of them.

  • spec_for_modellab

A coating spec for a Model Lab build: a template's variants on the slots it has, the wear zones from its marks.

  • validate_spec

Every problem with a coating spec: a slot without a finish, a finish that does not go on its material.

Real surface finishes for game gun models, worn where use wears a gun.

An MCP server that gives game gun models real surface finishes, worn where use wears a gun.

ceramic coatings (FDE, OD green, tungsten, graphite, coyote), stainless, polymer, rubber, brass, copper, lead, walnut. Each is a physically based value (linear colour, metallic, roughness) with what shows when it wears through and the sources of its numbers. Values reasoned from descriptions are marked as estimates.

  • A finish library with sources. Anodized aluminium, manganese and zinc phosphate, blued and nitrided steel,

issued rifle, a two-tone FDE build, an abused one), each at a wear level: new, issued, worn or abused.

  • Coating variants. A spec puts a finish on each material slot of a model, in as many variants as you want (an

the gun (its grip, the support hand, the controls), where parts slide (a magazine in its well, a stock on its tube), and dirt where the surface is occluded and round the muzzle and the port. Every variant reads the same masks, so a new variant costs nothing.

  • Wear from evidence, baked once. In Blender, into the model's vertex colours: exposed edges, where the hands work

its level, and no wear inside corners.

  • Checks. Every finish against the rules physically based rendering rests on. Every variant's worn share against

(coat.py), so what passes is what the player sees.

  • One formula everywhere. The checks, the look-dev renders and an engine's material compute wear the same way

Model Lab (modellab-mcp) builds give their own slots (upper, lower, barrel and more), marks and parts: specformodellab makes a coating spec from a build in one call.
