Read from the package source without running it. The installed server may list more.

  • create_short_linkwrite action

    Make a short link for an upload from search_uploads with its destination's link shortener, or return the one it already has. Returns the short link and the upload, whose formats then use it. Fails if the destination has no link shortener set up.

  • create_temporary_linkwrite action

    Make a link to a file in a bucket that stops working after a while (a presigned URL), for private buckets or sharing for a limited time. Anyone with the link can download the file until it expires, even from a private bucket, so only make one when the user asks. Nothing in the bucket changes.

  • delete_uploadwrite action

    Delete an upload's file from its bucket and remove it from Aktar's history. Its link stops working. This can't be undone.

  • get_status

    Check that Aktar is running and connected, and which version and destination it has selected.

  • get_thumbnail

    Get a small preview image of an upload from search_uploads (photos, videos, PDFs, documents...), to see what a file looks like without downloading it.

  • list_bucket

    List the folders and files right under a folder of a destination's bucket, including files not uploaded with Aktar. Returns nextContinuationToken when there's more.

  • list_destinations

    List the storage destinations set up in Aktar: name, provider, bucket, public link base, whether it's the selected one, and the file types it's used for.

  • list_watched_folders

    List the folders Aktar uploads new files from automatically, with their status and queue, and whether watching is paused.

  • replace_filewrite action

    Write a new local file over one already uploaded, so its key and link stay the same and everyone who has the link sees the new version. The old contents are gone. Needs Aktar for Mac 0.14.0 or Windows 0.7.0.

  • search_uploads

    Search Aktar's upload history by file name or key, newest first. Without a query, lists the latest uploads.

  • upload_clipboardwrite action

    Upload the file or image on the user's clipboard and return its link. The file becomes reachable by anyone with the link.

  • upload_filewrite action

    Upload a local file to the user's storage and return its link (plus Markdown and HTML). The file becomes reachable by anyone with the link. If the same file is already there, Aktar returns its existing link (reused: true).

Aktar CLI

Upload files to your own S3, Cloudflare R2 or Backblaze B2 bucket from the terminal, and get the link.

The aktar command talks to the Aktar app on your Mac or Windows PC, so it uses the destinations, keys, path templates and link settings you already set up there. Your storage keys never leave the app.

Install

Or run it without installing: npx @getaktar/cli upload file.png.

Requires Node.js 18 or later and Aktar for Mac 0.18.0 or Aktar for Windows 0.11.0 or later (earlier versions of the CLI work with Aktar for Mac 0.4.0 and later).

Connect to Aktar

  1. In Aktar, open Settings > Integrations and turn on Allow local connections.
  2. Copy the token shown there.
  3. Run:
aktar login

and paste the token when asked (avoid aktar login --token : other programs can see command lines, and it stays in your shell history). It's checked against Aktar and saved to ~/.config/aktar/cli.json (%APPDATA%\aktar\cli.json on Windows), readable only by you. You can also pipe it in (pbpaste | aktar login) or set AKTARTOKEN (and AKTARPORT if you changed the port) instead.

Without -d, files go to the destination selected in Aktar's menu bar. Uploads show up in Aktar's history like any other.

--format chooses what's printed: url (default), markdown, html, or custom (your template from Aktar). --expires takes 1, 7, 14 or 30 days and needs Aktar's auto-delete rules on that destination; without it, files are kept.
