Memory Kernel tools (8)
write = sends, deletes, buys or postsRead from the package source without running it. The installed server may list more.
memory_build_contextAssemble a compact, budget-limited context pack for the current task.
memory_forgetArchive a memory so it stops surfacing in recall, while keeping it recoverable.
memory_ingestSplit raw notes or a transcript into structured memories and save them.
memory_listList recent memories (most recently updated first) with optional filters.
memory_rememberSave one well-formed memory to the local store.
memory_searchFind the few memories most relevant to a query.
memory_statsReport store statistics: total count, breakdown by kind and scope.
memory_wake_upBuild a small 'hot memory' pack to load at the start of a session.

Memory Kernel
<!-- mcp-name: io.github.Artem362/memory-kernel -->
Memory Kernel is a small local memory layer for AI agents.
It helps you save useful things such as decisions, constraints, tasks, facts, and notes in a local SQLite database, then pull back only the few memories that matter for the current task.
Published package name on PyPI: amormorri-memory-kernel CLI command after install: memory-kernel

- How It Works
What It Does
In plain English, Memory Kernel does 4 things:
- Stores memory locally on your machine.
- Keeps memory structured enough to stay useful.
- Finds relevant records without a heavy vector stack.
- Builds a small context pack instead of dumping everything into the prompt.
This project is not trying to create a magical black-box memory. It is trying to create a memory layer you can inspect, control, export, and trust.
Start In 5 Minutes
If you just want to try it, do this:
pip install amormorri-memory-kernel
memory-kernel init
memory-kernel remember --scope my.project --kind decision --title "Keep memory local" --content "We store memory on the user's machine."
memory-kernel search "memory local"
memory-kernel export --format json --output exports\memory.jsonWhat happened there:
- init created a local database.
- remember saved one clear memory.
- search fetched it back.
- export created a backup file you can move or restore later.
If you are using the repository instead of PyPI:
pip install -e .[dev]Typical Workflow
Most people will use it like this:
- Save one precise memory with remember.
- Feed raw notes or transcripts with ingest.
- Before an agent run, fetch only what matters with search, context, or wake-up.
- Inspect, fix, or remove single records with show, update, or delete.
- Periodically export the database for backup.
- Restore it elsewhere with import.
Which Command To Use
remember
Use remember when you already know exactly what should be saved.
Good examples:
- a decision
- a rule
- a user preference
- a project constraint
memory-kernel remember --scope project.alpha --kind decision --title "Use SQLite FTS5" --content "We use SQLite FTS5 for local retrieval."ingest
Use ingest when you have raw text and want the system to split it into structured memories.
Good examples:
- meeting notes
- a transcript
- a rough planning document
- an agent session log
memory-kernel ingest --scope project.alpha --file notes.txt --source sprint-review --tags planning transcriptShortened. The full README is on GitHub.
Nothing above is checked by us. What we check is on the safety report.
Memory Kernel: common questions
- Is Memory Kernel MCP server safe?
- Mostly: it is graded B (82/100). Read the Memory Kernel safety report
- How do I install Memory Kernel?
- It runs on your machine. Copy the Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code or Claude Desktop config from the install section.
- Does Memory Kernel need an API key?
- No secret keys are declared. It reads 1 setting from the environment.
- Is Memory Kernel maintained?
- The last commit was 141 days ago (2026-06-15). The latest release is v0.3.2.
- What can I use instead of Memory Kernel?
- Servers from other publishers that do the same job: Remem MCP server, Memory Arbiter MCP server and memo MCP server.
- How does Memory Kernel compare with other Databases MCP servers?
- safety score 82/100 (higher than 55% of 802 Databases servers); tools 8 (the typical Databases server has 8); tools that change things 0% (typical: 10%. Fewer write tools means less an agent can break). Full comparison.
